The Glades raise thousands for appeal’s funds with sponsored sky dive!
Last month, the Glades shopping centre held sponsored tandem skydives to raise money for the Lymph Node Analyser Appeal.
On the 21st August, six brave fundraisers, including Kelly Allen and Jeyda Kubilay from the New Look store at the Glades, Consultant Breast Surgeon Anil Desai, Atul Patel and the Glades' own Administrator Jenny McKenzie and Security Guard, Jack Lewis, managed to raise over £4,200 as they soared the skies with Headcorn Parachute Club.
The appeal has been part of an 18 month long campaign, including treadmill runs, coin collections, fashion shows and pantomime performances to raise funds for the Lymph Node Analyser Appeal at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
Traditionally, women had to wait about two weeks for the results of a sentinel node biopsy, but the lymph node analyser enables results to be read on the day of biopsy, avoiding an anxious two-week wait for patients and allowing any required lymph surgery to be completed in the same operation.
Maria Cooper, Marketing Manager of The Glades said, “We are extremely proud of the fundraisers and on behalf of the centre I would like to congratulate each of them for their fantastic efforts. We are thrilled with the amount raised and will continue to raise funds for the appeal with exciting events and activities!”
