His N Hers
Freebies and fun at the Glades’ His ‘n’ Hers event
Bromley’s shopping centre is preparing for an exciting event entitled His ‘n’ Hers, Then & Now. Focusing on the past and present, the packed programme features a variety of activities and displays, some designed to interest guys and others themed especially for the ladies.
Taking place from Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 September, the event promises something for everyone, kicking off with the ‘His’ weekend on 12/13 and ending with the ‘Hers’ weekend on 19/20.
Boys’ toys
The ‘His’ weekend will feature demonstrations and competitions featuring boys’ toys. There will be a giant, four-track model railway – presented by the Orpington and District Model Railway Society – which will feature both modern and vintage trains. Would-be Lewis Hamiltons can enter the Glades Grand Prix on a Scalextric track supplied by Modelzone, with a prize of XXX for the fastest lap. There’ll also be bucket loads of fun as Modelzone demonstrates its giant remote-controlled bulldozer – a John Deere vehicle measuring over half a metre and featuring lights and sounds.
Driving championship
Dads and lads are invited to take part in GAME’s UK-wide competition to find the fastest driver on Saturday 12 September. The winner of the Glades’ heat, will bag family Fastrack tickets to Thorpe Park plus the chance to compete for a Nissan 350Z sports car. All participants will get a thrilling preview of the latest Need for Speed: Shift racing game before its release, plus a certificate and branded key ring.
Gorgeous guys
The event will give men the chance to discover how to make their skin look its best. Lancôme at Boots and Clarins at Debenhams will be giving advice and free samples of their energising and anti-ageing skin care products for men on Saturday 12 September.
Sports displays
There will also be an exhibition of Crystal Palace football strips – from bygone claret and blue kits to the latest Nike version – along with fascinating memorabilia from the club’s own archives from Mon 14 – Sun 20. The latest ski wear from Trespass will be displayed and there’ll be golf experts on hand to offer top tips, as well as money-off coupons and information on High Elms Golf Course and Bromley Golf Centre from Sat 12 – Fri 18.
‘Then & Now’ fashion displays
Shoppers can take a stroll down memory lane with the Glades’ ‘Then & Now’ exhibition of retro fashion – sourced by specialist store, Vintage Mode – displayed alongside the latest styles from the current season. The exhibition will be located in Central Atrium from Mon 14 – Sun 20 and, if this whets the appetite, many retailers at the Glades will be promoting their retro merchandise – from vintage-style clothing and accessories to toys such as humming tops, Etch-A-Sketch and Rubik’s Cube.
Free pampering!
The ever-popular, free pamper sessions return to the Glades offering manicures, hand massages and beauty tips during the ‘Hers’ weekend of 19/20 September. Staff from the centre’s hair and beauty retailers – including Debenhams, Effective Cosmetics, Clarins at Boots, Rush London and The Body Shop – will be giving mini treatment sessions or advice on skin and hair care. Plus the Glades’ Style Advisor, Faye Monk, will be giving free personal styling advice.
